Healthcare scientists are often at the forefront of research and innovation within the NHS for the benefit of patients and helping the long-term sustainability of the NHS. Taking an idea and making it into a service improvement and innovation involves a range of activities such as producing a convincing business case, getting engagement from many different stakeholders, careful project management and obtaining funding.
The Manchester Academy for Healthcare Scientist Education (MAHSE) have designed an interactive Roadmap to enable Healthcare Scientists to navigate their way through the most crucial steps in the innovation process, ensuring that they are equipped with all the essential knowledge and skills to bring their ideas to fruition and allowing them to carry out their projects with confidence.

The MAHSE Roadmap to Innovation provides healthcare scientists with an interactive guide to making a service improvement or innovation. You will discover the key steps involved in the innovation process and obtain the knowledge that you will need to undertake a review of your current service, identify where innovation or improvements are needed, gain support from stakeholders and funders, pilot and evaluate your project, and encourage its adoption across the NHS.

Manchester Metropolitan University and MAHSE have developed a Massive Open Online Course which will help healthcare scientists to identify how they can contribute to innovation and to understand their role in driving innovation in the healthcare sciences.
